Put a Ring on it: Why I've read this book four times [so far]

Updated: Jan 17, 2019

About:

In The Faerie Ring by Kiki Hamilton, Tiki is an orphan girl living in England in the year 1871.

I love this fairy! Find it at https://tinycards.duolingo.com/decks/37zyg92i/fairies

Even with a mark around her wrist believed to be the mark of the faeries, she only believes three things: 1) that the world is a cruel and unfair place, 2) you can only rely on yourself and, 3) no adults can save you.

Tiki is a thief, but only to support her family of fellow orphans and thieves. When she and her friends crack a plan to steal into the royal palace at a grand ball, Tiki steals a ring she believes is nothing but something she can sell, not knowing it is the magical pact between faeries and humans.

Now with the ring in her possession, evil faeries are now after her, seeing to destroy it and to wreak havoc on the human world.

With the help of a man named Rieker and a prince most afraid of the ring’s abilities, Tiki must use both her wits and the help of the faerie ring to save her world.

SPOILERS! BEWARE!

The ending:

Tiki and Rieker try to sneak into the castle but are stopped by the UnFey, the evil faeries. The ring is taken, and Tiki goes on through the castle, now face to face with the UnFey. With the help of Rieker and Prince Leopold, the ring is saved, and they go home peacefully. For now….

My thoughts:

This book is very well written.

It is very descriptive, and I cannot wait until I can read the rest of the series.

The only thing I don’t like about it is that it's slow and backtracks at times. But at the same time, it is also intense and keeps you at the edge of your seat, just waiting to see what will happen to Tiki, the relatable and strong female lead.

Exhibit A: Strong female

I believe this book deserves a large fan-following and much praise. I totally recommend this book to anyone who likes a intense fantasy set in a cozy world.
